To Kill A Mocking Bird

Journal #7
Prompt C
So far, is this a novel about Coming of age and race

First Scout is really learning about becoming older. She is learning that when you are young you can act as anything but when you grow up you really have to take the role of being a young lady. She is also learning that being a lady means not being what she was when younger. Scout is even starting to be called Jean Louise her real name.

Jem is learning that when you get older you have to act more mature. He has to start thinking about things before he does it. He is learning about how to be mature even though the people around him still act like kids.

I think the book is also about race because many times you see black verses white. Constantly we see black people seen as lower because of their skin color. And again anything that involves both of the races in a disagreement the white people lways win.
