Chapter 12: Cry of the Hunters

Chapter 12: Cry of the Hunters
Perspective: Ralph

I walk through the forest alone. No good friend like Piggy to talk to. I walk and come face to face to a pigs head on a stick, but now it is a skull, nothing left behind. I keep walking towards Jack's castle rock. But to my surprise I run into Sam and Eric. They keep talking about a cordon. But instead of preventing me to get through, they are trying to track me. They say instead he trying to kill me. I told them that I was going to hide in the thicket. Like a diddle I told them. They give me some meat and say to watch out. I go to where I will sleep. I think of Jack threatening the twins to join or will die, or threatened. Then I think of what sharpened stick means. Then I think and thought of the pig. Roger wants to kill me, cut my head off, and stick it on the stick and stab it in the ground.
I finally wake up to see that Jack and the hunters are pushing huge bolder at me. I think at Sam and Eric rated me out. I hear them talking to Jack saying that he is hiding in there. I was hiding in the thicket. I decided to hide there because if Jack tired to come through it would take him a while to get through then if one of the hunters tried to crawl through I could attack them there. They finally found out that I was not going to get out with the bolder coming down at me. Then they all grab spear and stab the thicket. I was so stupid. I stabbed back and hit someone. But then they start a huge fire on the island.
Percival Wemys Maddison is one boy I can remember his name. I start to think as fast as I can. I think of two plans. Either I run and climb up a tree or I can flee. I decide to flee but I find a perfect spot to hide. It is a dark place so whoever finds it will have to climb down to see me. But to my luck Someone sees me. I hit there legs and ran to the beach. But when I looked to my greatest surprise I see a naval officer. he is wearing drill made uniform and epaulettes on his uniform. He looks at me in in surprise. Of course ten Jack comes running out about to kill me. The naval office ask who is in charge. I look up and say I am in charge. But all broke loose and went crazy. But the naval officer says he is disappointed in us. He says we are British boys, we should have done better then that.

Chapter 11: Castle Rock

1. In the beginning of the chapter, what does Piggy tell Ralph to do with the conch?
Piggy says to Ralph to blow has hard as he can and cessation.

2.What reason will Piggy give Jack for the return of his glasses?
Piggy is sincere and is pleading Jack to give him back his glasses.

3.What does Ralph declare their appearance will be when they approach Jack?
Ralph declares they we not be truculently and will be clean and proper looking. They will not wear paint on their face.

4.Who challenges the boys on their approach to Castle Rock?
Roger was in charge of the delirious boys when Jack was hunting. Ralph was the one who went to the castle rock and was trying to call an assembly.

5.When Jack appears, what has he been doing?
Jack was hunting for his tribe before he appears.

6.What does Ralph call Jack that provokes a fight?
Ralph the cessation of the book says that Jack is a bloody thief for taking the glasses instead of asking for fire.

7.What happens to Samneric after the fight?
Jack and the hunters tie up Sam and Eric and start hitting him with a spear in the ribs.

8.What is Roger doing during Piggy’s plea for a return to decency?
Roger is putting all of his weight on a lever that is under a huge rock.

9.Write a STRONG PARAGRAPH about who is responsible for Piggy’s death and why.
I think two people are responsible for Piggy's death. First Jack because if Jack did not steal the glasses, then this whole would have never happened. Then Jack also started the fight which made the boys become delirious. I also think Roger is to blame. If Roger did not start to try to push the rock off the ledge then Piggy would have not gotten hit. In the end I feel Jack was the most to blame because he did make Piggy blind so he could not move out of the way.

Chapter 10: The Shell and the Glasses

Chapter 10: The Shell and the Glasses

Today it is my first day dead. I see Ralph and Piggy talking. I move in and hear they are talking about me. Ralph saying that they murdered me. That it was there problem for killing me. But Piggy on the other hand thinks it was all an accident and should not put the blame on them. They keep fighting. Ralph screaming it was a murder and Piggy screaming it was an accident. Right now I can't even think what happened it was so quirk I barley remember.

Then I move over to Jack and his hunters. I see Roger grab Wilfred and tie him up. I think it was to teach him a lesson. I think Jack rules with an iron fist. But he is a big bully. I think it was to teach a lesson, don't cross Jack and you won't end up tied and beaten.

I finally see Jack I get closer to hear what he is saying to Roger and Maurice. They keep talking about going to the camp ground and stealing Piggy's glasses. I run to Ralph to try to warn him someway. But I forgot I am a ghost. So I wait to see Jack and the other two come into camp.

I follow them in the dead of night to see that they come into Ralph's camp and take Piggy's glasses. Then it all made sense they wanted fire. I try to help and try to trip Jack but he can walk through me of course. Then I see Ralph kicking Sam's butt for some reason. Hitting him left and right it was hilarious. Jack got away and is showing of his success, the glasses.

In the end I feel it was not the boys fault for my death. I guess they might have thought I was maybe the beast. It was more the wrong place at the wrong time. I do blame Jack he thought I was the beast in disguise. So he acts like he did a favor.

Chapter 8: Gift for the Darkness & Chapter 9: A View to a Death

Chapter 8:Gft for the Darkness

The scene where Jack and his hunters create the sacrificial pig head/ “Lord of the Flies”.
In this scene Jack and his hunters find a mother pig with her piglets. They are hidden and the mother pig is under the shadows. There is no wind and it is very hot. Jack points seeing if the other boys understood. He yells now to swarm the pig. Roger pulls back his arm and hurls a spear at a piglet. The piglet got hit but runs away into the sea. But two spears hit the mother pig in her butt. While the boys rush to finish their kill the other piglets ran off while the mother was escaping to the forest. All the boys run after her in the hunt. They follow her pig tracks until it was too long and they lost the tracks. Jack inflamed with anger curses and pounds the ground. But then he saw her in a field. One boy throws another spear and get her right in the butt. Now they could follow her by the blood trail she left behind. They were right behind her. She got into a open space where butterflies where dancing and flowers everywhere. She comes to a halt to weak to move on. The hunters rush over to her. Roger stabbing her whenever pigflesh was shown. Jack stabbing downward with his knife.Roger finds a spot to stab her and puts his whole weight on the spear while it probes deeper. jack finds the throat and cuts to hear no more squealing. Hot blood allover his hands. Then Jack decides the gift to the beast will be the pigs head. Jack says to sharpen both sides of the stick. He stabs the stick into the ground and the free end has the severed pigs head.

I think that part is the most terrifying part because William Golding puts way to muck description. The thought of seeing little kids kill and pig that is hanging on for dear life is a horrible picture to think of. Even the part where Roger puts his whole weight on the pig while the spear goes deeper and deeper is a disturbing act. In the book William says they are excited to kill an animal really freaks people out. Like killing a human.

Chapter 9: A View to a Death

I think Jack was responsible for Simon cruel murder even though the hunters killed him. I think Jack killed Simon is because he says in the book Jack tells the hunters to "Do our dance! Come on! Dance" he is making them get excited to kill. Then when he says " I don't care. Simon was the beast in disguise". That is the one line that shows he didn't care he was doing a favor by getting rid of the beast. Simon deserves to die , is what he is saying. Simon was the beast in disguise last night so I had to kill him. The beast is now gone. That is what I think Jack is trying to say. Instead of being mad, be joyful, I killed the beast we can sleep with comfort and no fear. This is why I think Jack killed Simon that horrible night.

Lord of the Flies
Chapter 7:Shadows and Tall Trees
"Surround him! Quick!"
Perspective:Jack

What is the game the boys play after spearing the pig? Who spears the pig? Describe the mood of the boys afterwards.

After we almost caught a pig we play a game were Robert is the pig and we try to kill him first we huddle around him. Once he is all covered we hit him with the end of our spears. Some how Ralph spears a boar but it got away. The boys were being very bravado during the hunt. Which was perfect because that means they were excited. where we were hunting it was very moors. I think the boys think I am sagely for thinking up how to kill a pig with the circle move.

Jack suggests, “You could get someone to dress up as a pig and then he could act, you know, pretend to knock me over and all that.” Robert said that they need a real pig because it has to be killed. What does Jack suggest as a substitute? What does this foreshadow?

Later Robert says we have to use a real pig because we can kill it for real. Which I think was impervious idea. Instead I suggest that we use a littlun. I think this means another person might be killed but I am not going to point any fingers.

What evidence did the boys find to prove that there is a beast? (Why are they so gullible?)

The boys and I find a beast like thing kinda dun. Almost not alive. But the kids are go gullible because first they believed the twins Sam n Eric.

Why do you hate Ralph so much? Why won’t you talk it over with him?

I don't like Ralph because all he cares about is the littluns, or the huts, fire, and the bathroom. Which he does not understand is that hunting is first on the list. Then when we try to go hunt he has to make a game plan to what we are going to do. I won't talk to him about it because he does not need help being leader. Maybe if the load of cheif is too musch he wll give it to me instead. Then all of use will survive on the island.

Chaper 6:Beast from Air

Lord of the Flies
Chapter 6:Beast from Air
"Watch Out the Beast Might come for Us!"
Perspective:Simon

What sign comes down from the grown up world?
A huge explosion comes
from the sky and some guy comes down with his parachute. Maybe it might be dead, it was flailing around like crazy. It is really waxy right now.

Why aren’t the boys aware of it?
First it come out at night and the two littluns, Sam n Eric where watching the fire, not looking out for the leviathan or any thing.

Why are Sam ‘n Eric so terrified?
They were terrified because something came from the sky and just landed on our island. We don't know if it is nice or anything. Then they are two littluns watching the fire, nothing else.

How do Sam ‘n Eric describe the beast?
They say the beast with long claws, sharp teeth, and wings.

What is the attitude of the boys when going off to look for the beast?
First Jack first thinks of killing the beast. He kind of thinks mutinously a lot. But Ralph rather stay an make up a game plan. Instead he thinks who will be watching the fire while Jack hunts, then you will watch the littluns because they can not protect themselves, and the huts who makes sure they will be alright.

Is there really a beast? How do you know?
I don't think there is a beast because the beast is always talked about but never seen. Or it is seen by the littluns, none of the bigguns. But the beast does give me some diffidently feelings.

What do you think the actual beast that all of the boys are so afraid of really is?
I think the beast is just some wild pig that might have gotten a little bigger then the rest, probably because he lived longer. Then the person who fell from the sky. Just a person, nothing more.

Chapter 5:Beast from Water

Lord of the Flies
Chapter 5 – Beast from Water

“Jack is a Big Jerk”

Perspective: Piggy

Why is an assembly called?

An assembly is called because Ralph thinks we are not doing what we said we would do. He says we are not pulling our own weight.

What concerns are brought up?

Some of the concerns that are brought up is no one is allowed to make fire. If they need to use fire for anything they have to go to the top of the mountain to use it. Also someone said they would be helping us by putting water into cocoanuts so we don’t have to do that every time we are thirsty. There was something about the huts about everyone helped with the first hut, a couple people helped with the second hut, then only Simon and Ralph did the last one. Then he keeps discursive on about going to the bathroom, I guess some people were going near the food. Now we have to go near the rocks so it will was away. We also talked about the beastie and that it comes from the water. Even thought we have fear we have to stay together.

How do you feel about those concerns?

I feel some of the concerns are okay. But walking up a mountain just to cook one thing might be a little harder to manage. The huts I don’t get why he was mad because I helped with the first two.

How are things breaking up (falling apart)?

Now we are split into two groups. Simon, Ralph, and I are one group whose main focus is the huts right now. Then the other group is Jack and the rest of the boys, who only cares about the hunting. Which I think is a ludicrous idea, I think we should stay together even though we might not get along.

Why do you think the littluns cry in their sleep?

The littluns cry in their sleep because they are scared that they might be like the boy with the mulberry birth mark and might have the end of their adventure running from the beastie. Also because that kid said that he say the beastie come from the water. So they lamentation all night about the thought of it being real and the thought that they might be the next missing person.

What was Percival Wemys Madison afraid of?

Percival is afraid of the beastie. He was sleeping and when he woke up he was tangled in the vines and saw something in the bushes. He says the beastie comes from the water that is why Jack and the hunters cannot find it.

What do you think is “the dirtiest thing there is” about human nature?

The dirtiest thing about human nature is judging a book by it’s cover. Jack just judges me because I am fat. He freely jeeringly to me like he knew me forever to say these things. Even though I am very decorum around people.

If you were the leader of the boys right now, how would things be different?

If I was the leader right now I would make sure that Jack finds this creature and does not come back until he does. So then he can never come back to the group.
